Dunny trading party at Hero

I gots a raffle ticket!

On Thursday night, Dave and I braved the Buffalo snowstorm to head out to Hero for their Dunny trading party celebrating the release of the new Dunny Fatale series. Dave collects those little guys. I'm sure many of you already know what Dunnys are, but for those who don't, they're little 3 inch bunny figures/canvases that are decorated by various artists and sold "blindboxed," which means that although there are many different figures in a series, they're all sold in the same uniform box - you never know what you'll get, and each figure comes in a different ratio. It's like a mystery surprise, which is pretty fun!

Hero is a local store run by a very cute husband and wife design team, Mark and Beth. They design gorgeous screenprinted band posters (we've got this one in our kitchen) and greeting cards, and they also sell plenty of blindboxed and art toys. It's pretty fun to poke around in there; Dave and I are regulars! Their parties are always fun, complete with food, beer, good music, raffle prizes, and fellow folks to geek out about toys with. I traded some old doubles I had from past series for some shiny new things to give as little gifts; yay!

Hello, ether. I'm just another gal with a huge passion for fashion, especially of the vintage variety. My name is Alicia, or Miss Hiccup in internetland, and I'm especially fond of 50s New Look party dresses, housedresses, and suits; 60s minidresses; and Audrey Hepburn. My aim is to hopefully look like a French ingenue. I also have an etsy store where I sell vintage clothing.

I also love my hometown, Buffalo, and want to show the world why it's so great. I'd like to post about all the little glittering gems that hide here, waiting for someone to find them, Goonies-style.

I'm also in a band with my awesome fiance, Dave! It is called Quest For Friends. We don't play very often, but when we do, it's a crazy silly dancetastic time. We sing about chubby kitties, high fives, and the coolness of science.

I have been wanting to start this blog since forever, but I have been just too darn chicken. No more lollygagging! It's time to get up and go! I need an outlet to express all the love, happiness, and luckiness in my little heart before it just up and bursts! So, here goes... I'm doing it for real now. Big breaths. Hopefully someone out there will find maybe a nugget of value in my efforts, but if not, at least I can say I tried!
